HISTORY
Presiding Bishop G.E
Patterson saw the need for a benevolent arm within the
Church Of God In Christ Inc. to specifically provide
assistance for areas devastated by natural disasters and
to provide educational scholarships for high school
students entering college.
COGIC Charities Inc. was founded in April 2002 by
Presiding Bishop G.E Patterson to serve as the
benevolent arm of the Church Of God In Christ Inc. COGIC
Charities Inc. is registered as a national non-profit
(501C3) organization. Since 2002, COGIC Charities has
provided humanitarian relief to four regions that have
been hit by natural disasters and has donated to various
relief agencies including the Salvation Army, the Horn
of Africa Relief and Development Organization, the
United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the
American Heart Association. Please review the COGIC

April 2002 – The
Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) Charities was
chartered by Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson.
-
July 2003 – A
straight line wind storm hit the Mid-South. COGIC
Charities helped in the clean-up effort and donated
much needed water to the citizens of Shelby County,
Tennessee.

2004 – COGIC
Charities donated $10,000 to the American Heart
Association to help in the fight against heart
disease.

2004 – COGIC
Charities donated $10,000 to The Salvation Army and
the Second Harvest Food Bank and delivered over
1,000 bottles of water to Florida after Hurricane
Charley devastated the region.

2005 – the
Church Of God In Christ raised money to create an
African Tsunami Relief Fund in which African
countries could receive relief aid.

2005 – COGIC
Charities donated $10, 000 to the American Heart
Association to help in the fight against heart
disease.

August 2005 –
COGIC Charities donated $150,000 from the African
Tsunami Relief Fund to the United Nations Food and
Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) and $100,000 to the
Horn of Africa Relief and Development Organization
working in Somalia.
